Trees for Days, our latest initiative in partnership with the Tunqui Foundation, aims to spread love for the Peruvian Andes in the Sacred Valley—with trees! For every day a traveler embarks on an adventure with us, we cultivate a tree in their name. Armed with trees and a shovel, our mission is simple: to help communities around the world adapt to the growing impacts of climate change. Want to help spread the love with your own grove? All you need to do is book a trip, and we’ll take care of the rest.
TRAVEL-GROW-LOVE
How do we spread love with trees? It’s easy.
With the help of our partners, we work with local communities to cultivate and maintain our trees. Here’s how the magic happens:
You go on an adventure
As soon as your trip is booked and paid for, we’ll start preparing your tree package: one tree is cultivated for each day of your trip.
We grow your trees
Our reforestation process begins! We cultivate, maintain, and ensure your trees get all the love they need to thrive in their new environment.
Watch your love grow
Want to see the difference you’re making?
Log in to your Tunqui Expeditions account to track how many trees you’ve cultivated, where they’re growing, and—if you’re in the mood—add a few more to your forest!
Why do we love trees?
Let us count the ways.
Trees are majestic—everyone knows that.
But beyond their beauty and grace, trees play a vital role in restoring our planet.
They absorb harmful gases like carbon dioxide and release oxygen in return:
Hello, clean air! For a wide range of wildlife species, like three-toed sloths and macaques, trees provide crucial habitat, food, and shelter.
And when natural disasters unfortunately strike (droughts, floods, extreme weather events), trees play a key role in building resilience to their impact. So, yes, while trees are undeniably majestic, they’re so much more than that.
Our Global Tree Initiative
Where in the world will your trees spread their love?
To start, we’ve outlined several projects in urgent need of reforestation.
From Argentina and Uganda to Thailand and Nepal, you’ll help us grow trees in a wide range of communities across the map.
This is where your trees will plant their roots and settle in for good:

The purpose of this initiative is to cultivate trees that directly benefit communities. These benefits focus on tangibly mitigating the impacts of climate change (e.g., droughts, floods, soil erosion, desertification), improving community resilience and well-being, and inspiring travelers and host communities to become stewards of nature.
Tree Growing Partners are local organizations in the areas where trees are cultivated. They were selected for their ability to execute long-term projects that generate positive social, economic, and environmental impacts for communities. These organizations have been working for at least five years to achieve positive impact through community development activities (e.g., food and water security, agroforestry, education, etc.) and have strong ties to their communities.
Tunqui Expeditions supports and sustains this initiative through the sale of trips. A percentage of each trip sale is donated to the Tunqui Foundation to manage the portfolio of tree-growing projects. An initial 5-year commitment has been agreed upon between Tunqui Expeditions and the Tunqui Foundation, with the idea of renewing it for longer once the concept is proven.
The Tunqui Foundation has signed contracts with each tree-growing partner to ensure all parties clearly understand responsibilities and timelines for monitoring and reporting. These reports will include a combination of statistics, photos, videos, and stories of individual and community impact. As the program progresses, Tunqui Foundation field staff will periodically visit sites to better understand fieldwork and its progress.
Tunqui Expeditions, through its partner Tunqui Foundation, will monitor and evaluate program partner data quarterly to verify the progress of project activities, including, but not limited to: tree growth, tree survival rates, income generated through employment, income generated through the sale of harvested tree products, and other well-being factors from a community perspective. This data will be analyzed and reported in an annual program impact report.
Tunqui Expeditions’ donations to the Tunqui Foundation will continue to support the work they do to improve communities through tourism business development and will support tree-growing partners as they propagate, plant, and protect trees that benefit communities.
