We work alongside Andean communities to create meaningful and lasting change. Through education, environmental initiatives, and support for local families, every journey helps build a better future in the Andes.
At Tunqui Expeditions, responsible travel means creating a positive and lasting impact in the places we visit. Our goal is to work alongside Andean communities, helping them overcome social and economic challenges through meaningful partnerships and sustainable community projects.
We place special emphasis on supporting children and their education while also contributing to initiatives related to health, environmental protection, reforestation, and essential community needs.
Our community projects would not be possible without the trust and support of our travelers. Every journey booked with Tunqui Expeditions contributes to our ability to support local families, children, schools, and sustainable initiatives throughout the Andes.
When you travel with us, you are not simply discovering Peru—you are helping protect its natural heritage, preserve its traditions, and create new opportunities for local communities.
Tunqui Expeditions was founded in Cusco by Silvio Tunqui, who was born and raised in Poques, a small Andean community in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. He began working as a porter on the Inca Trail at a young age before continuing his studies and becoming an official tour guide.
His personal journey inspired the creation of a locally owned company that could provide exceptional travel experiences while giving back to the communities that shaped his life.
Since our beginning, we have supported social initiatives in rural Andean communities and promoted a more responsible approach to tourism. Our commitment also extends to the guides, chefs, porters, horsemen, drivers, and local professionals who make every journey possible.
We are committed to fair compensation, respectful working conditions, appropriate insurance coverage, and full compliance with Peruvian employment and porter protection regulations. We believe responsible tourism must benefit everyone involved.
To develop and support sustainable social projects that improve the quality of life of vulnerable families and communities throughout the Cusco region, with a special focus on education, health, environmental protection, and long-term local development.
To become a trusted leader in responsible tourism and community development in southern Peru, encouraging local people, travelers, partners, and tourism professionals to actively participate in creating meaningful and lasting change.
Our values guide every journey we create. Through respect, responsibility, authenticity, solidarity, and transparency, we support local communities, protect the Andes, and create a positive legacy through tourism.
