At Tunqui Expeditions, our guides are the heart of every journey. Each one is a licensed, professional tour guide with deep roots in the Andes and a genuine passion for sharing the history, culture, and natural beauty of Peru.
Raised in the Sacred Valley and surrounding communities, our team brings first-hand knowledge of the land, traditions, and local languages like Quechua. Their personal connection to the mountains and their stories create a truly immersive and authentic experience for every traveler.
All of our guides are certified by Peru’s Ministry of Tourism and speak fluent English and Spanish. Many of them started as porters and worked their way up through dedication, education, and love for guiding. This unique background gives them a deep understanding of both the physical and cultural aspects of trekking in the Andes.
More than just guides, they are ambassadors of responsible tourism — committed to preserving our heritage, supporting local communities, and making sure every trek is safe, meaningful, and unforgettable.
Come meet our team and discover Peru through the eyes of those who call it home.
At Tunqui Expeditions, our guides are not just leaders on the trail — they are storytellers, cultural ambassadors, and guardians of the Andes. Their knowledge, warmth, and deep connection to the land transform every trek into a meaningful and unforgettable experience.
Most of our guides come from local communities in the Sacred Valley and other parts of the Cusco region. Growing up surrounded by mountains, ancient traditions, and the Quechua language, they carry the wisdom of generations. Their heritage is not something they studied — it’s who they are.
Every guide in our team is officially licensed by the Peruvian Ministry of Tourism. They have undergone rigorous training in archaeology, first aid, history, and high mountain safety. Fluent in English and Spanish, they are well-prepared to guide travelers from all around the world.
Many of our guides began their journey in tourism as porters. Through hard work, education, and passion, they rose to become expert leaders. This path gives them a unique perspective and deep respect for every member of our trekking family — from travelers to support staff.
Our guides go beyond the itinerary. They share stories passed down by elders, explain the spiritual meaning of the mountains, and teach Quechua phrases along the way. Their goal is to create a cultural exchange that enriches both travelers and locals.
We believe that tourism should uplift local communities and protect our environment. Our guides are trained to follow sustainable practices, promote respect for sacred sites, and educate others on how to travel responsibly in the Andes.
Each guide has a unique story, full of experience, heart, and pride in their roots. Scroll down to meet them individually, learn about their journeys, and discover the incredible people who will accompany you on your adventure with Tunqui Expeditions.
