Acceptance of Our Terms and Conditions

By making a reservation through our website, email, or in person, you acknowledge and accept these Terms and Conditions. Any participation in our services will be considered as acceptance of this agreement.

Modification of These Terms

Tunqui Expeditions reserves the right to update or modify these Terms of Use without prior notice. Clients are responsible for periodically reviewing our Terms and Conditions to ensure they stay informed of any changes.

Reservation Confirmation

Once a client submits a booking request, the confirmation will depend on payment verification. The confirmation will specify all included and excluded services.

✔ If the client does not respond or explicitly object after our communication, it is assumed that our Terms and Conditions are accepted.
✔ Consequently, Tunqui Expeditions is not responsible for any misunderstandings or unforeseen circumstances arising from this.

Note: Please ensure that you have read, understood, and accepted our Terms and Conditions before confirming your booking with Tunqui Expeditions.

Website Bookings

If you book directly through our website, please ensure that you provide all required passport details, including:

Once we confirm your payment, we will verify availability and secure the necessary permits.

Note: Your tour is considered 100% confirmed only after receiving a written confirmation from Tunqui Expeditions.

Booking Policies for Tunqui Expeditions

Initial Deposit

To secure a Tour or Trek reservation with Tunqui Expeditions, clients must make a non-refundable deposit. The deposit amount varies depending on the selected itinerary and can be paid via PayPal or credit/debit card.

⚠ Important: Clients will be responsible for a 5% transaction fee applicable to both payment methods.

Once the reservation process has begun, it is assumed that the client has read and agreed to the Terms and Conditions of Tunqui Expeditions.

Booking Confirmation

A booking becomes confirmed and binding once Tunqui Expeditions acknowledges receipt of the client’s deposit. At this point, a contractual agreement is established between the client and Tunqui Expeditions.

Shared Responsibility: All individuals listed in the reservation are jointly responsible for the contract with Tunqui Expeditions. The person signing the contract represents all individuals listed in the booking, ensuring that all parties are aware of and agree to Tunqui Expeditions’ Terms and Conditions.

Deposit Amounts for Tours

Inca Trail:

Deposit: $400.00 per person
⚠ Note: Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable – no exceptions.

Salkantay Trek:

Deposit: $200.00 per person
⚠ Note: Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable – no exceptions.

Alternative Packages (Over 4 Days):

Deposit: $400.00 per person
Includes: Salkantay Trek, Inca Trail, Choquequirao to Machu Picchu, Machu Picchu & Rainbow Mountain, Cusco Highlights, etc.
⚠ Note: Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable – no exceptions.

Alternative Treks (Over 3 Days):

Deposit: $200.00 per person
Includes: Ausangate, Lares, Huchuy Qosqo, Choquequirao, Inca Jungle, Ancascocha, and Inca Quarry.

Deposit: $100.00 per person
Includes:

Payment Policies

Accepted Payment Methods

✔ For initial deposits and final payments, we accept cash, credit or debit cards, and PayPal.
✔ No traveler will be allowed to start the tour unless full payment has been settled.

Balance or Final Payment

✔ Final balance payments must be made at least 2 days (48 hours) before the tour.
✔ Payments can be made via cash, PayPal, or credit/debit card.
✔ PayPal and card payments include a 5% service transaction fee.

Cash Payments

✔ Must be completed at least 2 days before the tour.
✔ We accept both U.S. Dollars and Peruvian Soles for cash payments.
⚠ Note: Damaged or torn banknotes will not be accepted, regardless of the size of the damage.

Bank Fees

✔ All associated bank fees or transaction costs are the client’s responsibility.

For any questions regarding payment methods or additional information, please contact your assigned Experience Designer.

Cancellation & Refund Policies

Cancellation Request

✔ All cancellation requests must be formally submitted via email directly to your travel advisor.
✔ The request must be made by the person who originally booked the trip and made the initial deposit.

Initial Deposit Policy

⚠ All primary deposits are 100% non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances.

✔ Even in a medical emergency, your deposit is non-refundable (we do not accept medical notes or documents as proof for refunds).
✔ This is because the deposit is used to secure your permits, entrance tickets, campsites, hotels, and train reservations, which are non-refundable to us.

There are no exceptions to this policy.

Date Change Policy

✔ If you change your tour date, you will be required to pay a penalty of $100.00 per person.
✔ This fee is necessary because we must purchase new tickets as the original ones will be lost.

If you have purchased additional tickets, such as:
✔ Huayna Picchu
✔ Huchuy Picchu
✔ Machu Picchu Mountain

An additional penalty will apply.

⚠ Important: Machu Picchu tickets and other entrance tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Cancellation Fees

If you cancel within:

✔ 6 weeks (42 days) before the tour start date: You must pay 60% of the total tour cost.
✔ 2 weeks (14 days) before the tour start date: You must pay 80% of the total tour cost.
✔ 7 days or less before the tour start date: You must pay 100% of the total tour cost (no refunds).

Additional Considerations

✔ If a client decides to leave the tour early, no refunds will be issued.
✔ Any extra expenses (food, accommodation, or transportation) will be the client’s responsibility. However, they may rejoin the group for the Machu Picchu visit on the last day (if applicable).

✔ If a client is unable to begin the trek due to health issues, no refunds will be provided.
✔ The client will be responsible for additional expenses such as food, accommodation, or transportation.
✔ The client may rejoin the group for the Machu Picchu tour on the last day (if applicable).

✔ In the event of natural disasters or unforeseen circumstances that prevent the service from being carried out, clients will receive a 50% refund (administrative fees apply).

✔ If global pandemics affect the service, no refunds will be issued.
✔ Instead, clients will receive an open voucher to reschedule their tour for a later date (subject to availability).

✔ Failure to attend briefing sessions will be considered a no-show.
✔ Failure to participate in a scheduled tour will also be considered a no-show.
✔ No refunds will be provided for a no-show under any circumstances.
✔ No refunds will be issued for unused services included in your trek.

Inca Trail Tour Policies

Permits

✔ When you book an Inca Trail tour, your permit is issued exclusively under your name.
✔ It is essential to note the following:

✔ Non-Transferability: Permits cannot be transferred to another person.
✔ Non-Refundable: Permits are non-refundable. If you cannot attend, the permit and deposit will be lost.
✔ No Date Changes: Once purchased, permit dates cannot be changed.
✔ These regulations are established by the Peruvian Government, not by Tunqui Expeditions.

Alternative Arrangements

✔ If unexpected events such as natural disasters cause the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu to be closed, Tunqui Expeditions will offer an alternative trek to ensure you still enjoy an unforgettable experience.

Student Discount

$20.00 Discount for Students
✔ The discount applies to any traveler aged 17 or younger.
✔ A valid passport copy must be submitted at the time of booking.

Medical Information & Responsibilities

Mandatory Disclosure

✔ Clients must inform Tunqui Expeditions of any existing medical conditions, allergies, or specific health concerns at the time of booking.

Physical Fitness

✔ Participants must be in good physical condition.
✔ If you have any concerns about your health, consult your doctor before booking.

If you are over 70 years old, a valid medical certificate confirming your good health is required.

✔ Self-Assessment of Tour Suitability:
✔ Clients are responsible for determining whether a tour is appropriate based on their medical history, current health, and physical abilities.
✔ Tunqui Expeditions does not provide medical consultations or advice.

✔ Pregnancy Disclosure:
✔ Pregnancy is considered a medical condition and must be disclosed at the time of booking.
✔ If adequate accommodations or alternatives cannot be guaranteed, Tunqui Expeditions may refuse service for safety reasons.

✔ Travel Insurance:
✔ We strongly recommend that all travelers obtain comprehensive travel insurance to cover:
✔ Medical emergencies
✔ Tour cancellations
✔ Unexpected events during the trip
